Care and Maintenance Guide
Congratulations on acquiring a stunning stone benchtop for your kitchen surface. We believe that you have made an excellent investment in your home and would like to ensure that you love your kitchen benchtop for many years to come.
Here is a care and maintenance guide to help you give your stone benchtop the love it deserves.
♦ REGULAR CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Your stone surface is extremely hard wearing and all the quartz surfaces we supply contain a polymer resin that gives your benchtop an impervious surface and makes it highly resistant to every day domestic stains. We recommend using LITHOFIN EASY-CLEAN for daily maintenance. This is an excellent stone care product it cleans, protects and enhances your benchtop leaving it sparkling. LITHOFIN EASYCLEAN can be purchased from our website www.lovemykitchenbenchtop.nz/shop. An alternative daily cleaning option is warm soapy water.
♦ CLEANING STUBBORN STAINS
If you regularly use Lithofin Easy clean most stains will wipe off easily. For persistent stains use a non abrasive sponge with Jif or Ajax cream cleanser. Work the stained area with a sponge and then wipe clean.
Avoid cleaning the surface with products containing bleach or those with a high basic PH which, if applied extensively, might create whitish streaks. Other products that might harm the surface are industrial solvents, hydrofluoric acid, caustic soda, and varnish solvents.
Although the material is resistant to heat, it should still be protected with potholders to avoid direct contact of the saucepan or other hot kitchenware surfaces that have just come off the stove. Direct contact with overheated objects or flames might result in permanent marks due to the heating of the resin or could cause cracks due to the
thermal shock. The bench top should never be used as an ironing board.
Do not cut directly on your bench top. Although resistant to scores and scratches, if its original appearance is to be preserved, the use of chopping boards is always advised.
♦ REACTION TO KNOCKS
One of the characteristics that makes these surfaces stand out is their high resistance to knocks. However, avoid striking areas of the surface that due to the design of fabrication, may be slightly weaker such as pointed corners, fine edges, and around the sink edge. Don’t stand or sit on your benchtop.
♦ GRANITE BENCHTOP CARE
Your granite surface has been sealed, however, granite can still be porous and is subject to stains if certain chemicals are used. We strongly recommend LITHOFIN EASY CLEAN which cleans, enhances and protects your granite surface.
Avoid products that contain lemon, vinegar, or other acids on marble, limestone and
granite surfaces. They are all susceptible to acid etching.
